It is considered by some to be the turning point of the European theatre of war instead of the Battle of Stalingrad several months earlier. Although they resisted the Allied advance, they couldn't stop it, and Paris was liberated by August 1944.The Battle of Kursk was a major World War II Eastern Front large-scale battle between the forces of Germany and the Soviet Union near Kursk in southwestern Russia during the late summer of 1943 it ultimately became the largest tank battle in history and resulted in a Soviet victory. German units were delayed, unorganized, and just outmatched, especially with Allied air support. Hundreds of thousands of men and vehicles landed at Normandy, and on June 6, the Battle of Normandy - or Operation Overlord, or D-Day, depending on what you prefer - truly started. Not that it was really that much of a problem, as the Allies deceived the Axis with fake radio transmissions and double agents, even convincing them that the invasion would be coming much further north. By 1943, those plans became more serious - enough that the Germans were even aware that such an invasion was a possibility. History explains that after the miraculous evacuation of British and French troops from Dunkirk in 1940, plans for an invasion via the English Channel started taking shape. But it was also the stage for a lot of death. Everyone's probably heard of this one - that big pivotal turning point of World War II that led to the ultimate fall of Nazi Germany.
